Here's what he has done @ last seven events:
|1.||Australian Open||Quarterfinal (Wawrinka)|
|2.||Dubai 500||Semifinal (Federer)|
|7.||US Open||Final (Nadal)|
Not only can he NOT get to a final this season, he is losing to clowns way way way past their prime. Expiration date?
Add the fresh start a new season entails, the coaching change, just one more event left after this one (Miami) on his surface of choice before Nadal takes over on clay, relatively easy draw with injured Del Potro and Berdych in the quarters / semis, No. 27 approaching (less than 3 mos - May), marriage still pending (who wants to marry a loser. Wilander-Edberg?), No. 1 rank (???)........and can it get ANY more pressing?
Besides, Wawrinka and Federer winning a title this early in the season - one of them a Slam - reflects poorly on Djokovic the MOST. He is supposed to be the man in-charge with Nadal swinging in and out. Heck, even Nadal's breakout season (2013 - 2 Slams, No. 1 etc.) is on Djokovic too given the mileage Nadal carries - comparatively.
However, winning BOTH Indian Wells and Miami could still salvage most of the damage specially if it's done over Nadal, Federer - and maybe Wawrinka - EMPHATICALLY.
Faltering now will produce all sorts of 'justifiable' reasons for the decline to creep into the dynamic to create momentum in the direction not planned. Planned inadvertently? Heck, planned. Annoying your 'since you were conceived (born?)' team by injecting Mr. Broom Closet could mean anything else?
