A player lost 3 or fewer matches through the last slam of the year.

Nadal this year, Djokovic in 2011, Federer in 2005, McEnroe in 1984.

M

Rafa's back-to-back victories in the US Open Series Rogers Cup-Cincinnati double.

The only other three players to complete it:

Andre Agassi - 1995
Pat Rafter - 1998
Andy Roddick - 2003

M

I would like to submit that if there is more than one historic thing that fits the category as described verbatim in the original post, to wit:

"Something occurred this season that had happened just three freaking times in the 45-year Open Era hstory"

that there should be as many Wall of Fame winners as there are direct responses to that specific categorical inquiry, IF the commenter with that response has his/her facts correct.

Who's with me?

Leon

Hand raised.

Jenny

Support M on this one.

Bettyjane

You mean hitherto, to ignore the mind-reading requirement of the WOF contest. Yeah, sure, I'm in.

M

Hitherto AND forthwith, in this particular and specific instance of the aforementioned contest (to be referred to henceforth as "WOF")

"to ignore the mind-reading requirement of the WOF contest"

given the arguably ostensible ambiguity of the requirements set forth above in said particular and specific instance, as phrased and stated therein. :-D

Thank you, Leon!

M

Thank you, Jenny!

Stella

Me too

People, this being a fact based WOF results in only an Honorable Mention, not a WOF win. A true WOF at TP must have a mind-reading component!

Bettyjane

LOL! True that Veglia! I think to be fair to TP, it's just too easy for us toddlers to cheat by googling the answers. Not that any of us would actually stoop so low for immortality.

Fred

Winner / Correct answer: Friday, "September 4", 2013.???

Murph

LOL, Fred. I think you're the winner!!!

Thank you, TP!

Murph

Congratulations M for winning, but I don't think Honorable Mention is adequate.
