Something happened @ the 2014 Roland Garros final that Djokovic LEAST expected. Heck, even Nadal was shocked, I think.
What was it?

Djokovic`s big ovation at the end.

Nole got tired
Posted by: Stella | 06/08/2014 at 03:50 PM
The one who won the first set lost easily?
Posted by: O | 06/08/2014 at 04:20 PM
And that's Djokovic.
Posted by: O | 06/08/2014 at 04:21 PM
1) I think O might have the first part - if Nole wins the first set, he usually wins the match.
2) The only other thing I can think of is that Mr. Gluten-Free Return Machine did not expect that bad tummy at such a critical time. Usually a national network is not going to broadcast the (yucky) remains of that.
I know I didn't want to see it.

The crowd for the first time was with nadal and not his opponent - after novak's charm offensive the crowd was against him nevertheless - and were surprisingly behind Nadal - nadal is used to being jeered and boo'd by the Paris fans.

1. Nole crying openly
2. Spitting goo . Perhaps the same as M's no.2.
Posted by: Manal | 06/08/2014 at 08:58 PM
Nole made a double fault serve at 30-40 on a championship matchpoint
Posted by: Manal | 06/08/2014 at 09:01 PM
that was b-u-ti-fulll 2 c.....

Rafa was visibly tired.
Posted by: Bella | 06/09/2014 at 12:22 AM
I go with HoiHa
Posted by: RafaKenya | 06/09/2014 at 12:34 AM
Can I have another attempt? Rafa applauded 2 of Novak's shots at the net - he tapped his racket strings with the palm of his hand.
Posted by: Bella | 06/09/2014 at 04:46 AM
True, never saw Rafa applaud before
Posted by: Veglia | 06/09/2014 at 08:39 AM
Nole's return didn't show up
Posted by: Veglia | 06/09/2014 at 08:40 AM
Nole tired in the 2nd set itself
Posted by: Kitty | 06/09/2014 at 08:41 AM
One ball even kicked him when Rafa served to the body
Posted by: Veglia | 06/09/2014 at 08:41 AM
Rafa applauded Andy after their match. I've seen him do that many times.
Posted by: M | 06/09/2014 at 08:44 AM
Djokovic missed a return of spiny serve, ended up taking the shot in the face?
Posted by: O | 06/09/2014 at 08:51 AM
After the match, yes, many times. But, not during it. Same with Federer.

I guess everybody is searching for bad unexpected stuff. The pics give clues: Best things, openings, opportunity...
Posted by: srezende | 06/09/2014 at 01:36 PM
That he can win being tired because his opponent double faulted. In another word, too easy.
Posted by: alex | 06/10/2014 at 06:06 AM
He can often be heard to say "bueno" in response to a good shot from his opponent.
Posted by: Kathy | 06/10/2014 at 03:40 PM
Djokovic also double faulted at 5-3, 30-40 in the first set. Nadal would have broken back had it been called, and maybe done it in 3 sets.

Agree Kathy. Thanks.

1) - I like Kitty's Answer
2) - M's # 2 answer
3) - Rafa won his serve far more easily and went the forehand down the line more....worked effectively!
4) - Novak was given the wrong trophy. Novak’s square plate was handed to Maria the Umpire and Novak was given Maria’s…duh!

Posted by: alex | 06/13/2014 at 09:44 AM
Today I experienced the scary thing of not able to log on for it was 404 cannot find this page etc. So glad now it is ok. Did anyone else experience the same ??
Posted by: alex | 06/13/2014 at 11:08 PM
I did too, alex.
(I was wondering if it had something to do with that troll who kept posting under different names, & whether s/he was trying to hack its way in. TP & Typepad Support seem to have fixed the problem & gotten rid of him / her / it.)
Posted by: M | 06/13/2014 at 11:58 PM
Alex, M - I did too. Also as M says.
Posted by: Jenny | 06/14/2014 at 02:42 AM
Alex, M, and Jenny.... you can add me to the list wondering if TP couldn't get on either to announce the WOF winner. It was Friday the 13th!
Posted by: Murph | 06/14/2014 at 08:13 AM
Really !! Wow thanks M.
Posted by: alex | 06/14/2014 at 11:40 AM
Jenny I had a scare. But then I know I shall be fine. So I stared to breath again. For I know TP will not abandon us.
Posted by: alex | 06/14/2014 at 11:41 AM
I think you are right Murph. For that 404 pages did mention that "if u r the owner of the site u have to do this and that...etc."
Hope TP can log in.
Calling Calling for TP !!! I want to know who won !!
Posted by: alex | 06/14/2014 at 11:43 AM
