Mauresmo effect

Adrian

Having dropped Lendl and changed to Mauresmo.

Adrian

His surgery.

Adrian

Being complacent after he made history at Wimbledon and they changed the name of Henman Hill to Murray Mound...

Adrian

Focusing too much on his hotel and other businesses (including writing columns during slams)...

Adrian

Grief after how he let Wimby 2014 go because he had a silly argument with his fiancee...

Adrian

Being forever embarrassed about telling girlfriend to "shut the f%ck up" in Dimitrov match...

Adrian

Come on, I must have gotten one right!! :D

Stella

all of the above that Adrian suggested.

Plus --- bad attitude that seems to have returned. Maybe he has too much money already to make the effort, maybe since he got Wimbledon he feels he's done it all ( and he has no hope of getting 17 slams anyway ) but mostly he's a nasty surly, grouchy person. And I'm Brit saying this !!

Jenny

I think the split was Lendl's choice.

I'm opting for lack of motivation and match play.

chipnputt

Winning winbledon. Biggest goal achieved. Hunger eroded.

Jenny

I'm not a Murray fan but as a Brit I was hoping he would defend his Wimby title or at least get to the final and fight as Fed and Djokovic did. In tennis a player can't rely on past glory or a home crowd to get through, especially when faced with a flashy talented new star who has a big game, or there is a danger of being left behind.

alex

Lost total belief in himself. He craves for a homelife like his elder brother. In another word, he gave up.

Veglia

Resurgence of Nadal in 2013 and Federer in 2014. Andy was counting on Djokovic being the only obstacle to winning more slams after his Wimbledon title. Having to deal with 3 of the "Big 4" at the same time was too much for him.

jennifur

lendl left.....

O

What he's achieved already exceeded his wildest expectations?

O

Defeats in slam finals hurts too much, and it takes too much to get over them. He doesn't want to be there anymore?

O

His lack of peer competition? In Britain, no one can catch him. On the tour, he can never catch a Djokovic, a Nadal or a Federer?

DK

No white-heat burning desire (as Jenny and Stella said, lack of motivation)

Tennis Planet

WINNER: ADRIAN.

Adrian

Woohoo! Thanks! :)

Stella

so which of your answers was it ??

alex

Which answer TP? I know Adrian will be the winner. All his answers are good. But please tell us which one.

alex

Congrat. U deserve it.

Adrian

TP added a link above... and his explanation is consistent with my answer:

Being complacent after he made history at Wimbledon and they changed the name of Henman Hill to Murray Mound...

Jenny

Hi Adrian, Congrats.

I hadn't heard the name of the Hill was changed to Murray Mound, it was just bandied around. It's still known as Henman Hill. I think Tim Henman himself would have something to say.

Jenny

From Wiki:

"The name "Henman Hill" is still used by the BBC and other media in reference to the area.[1] In 2009, Tim Henman stated on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross that he had agreed with Andy Murray it is still "Henman Hill". Henman joked that "[Murray] can have all those grand slams he's going to win but I'm keeping my hill.""

Adrian

I'm now confused. Not that it matters much (at least not to me! jeje), but I had read somewhere (maybe it was one of TP's pranks?) about Judy attending or not attending (I can't remember) some sort of "ceremony" this Wimbledon when Henman Hill was officially renamed Murray Mound. Then I've read in various sites about spectators sitting in "what was once known as Henman Hill" and such things...

So it was all nonsense?

Tennis Planet

"Being complacent after he made history at Wimbledon".
