The pasting of 6-0, 7-6 , 6-0 at U.S Open remains forever etched in my memory.

Jabali

Hewitt and Agassi. Hewitt changed the game by playing solid on baseline. He was like the founder of baseline tennis. Fed himself has said hewitt was a big reason for his improvement in his game. Fed plays well against him. Next Agassi cause Fed won atp world tour finals in 2003. He beat him both in RR and finals. I remember Fed played marvellous tennis. Beat agassi 6-3 6-0 6-4. Then next year 2004 US open quarters a 5 set win over Agassi was a classic. Fed played really well and also in 2005 US open finals in 4 sets. Yes Hewitt and Agassi brings the very best out of Roger. I don't count Roddick cause he was just like a pushover for Roger. Roger can beat Roddick even on his OFF days.

Jabali

My second answer would be Hewitt and Fernando Gonzalez. I thought Gonzalez also made Fed play his best tennis. Roger has 12-1 H2H against him. He is a solid player. 2007 AO finals was really of high quality. In 2005,06 I remember Roger playing great matches against him.

Stella

that's what I was going to say Olga. Roddick , he had a 21 and 3 record. Davydenko it was 19 annd 2

alex

Roddick and Hewitt for sure. I agree with the above comments who named them first.

Tennis Planet

Have to name the two players ALONGWITH the reason why. Goffin and the two players have that thingy in common.

Hint for the reason: _o_s_i_pe_s.

alex

Wheel of Fortune TP style !

Peter D

Worshippers:
Haas
Santoro?

Alpha

I think Peter has the worshippers part correct

Them
Dimitrov

Stella

they're not retired

Alpha

Aha, didn't see that part of the hint.

I'll go back to my original choices -- Roddick and Hewitt

alex

Kudos to Peter for Worshippers !! Darn that was good. I was pulling my hair for hours and could not come up with anything.

Alpha the winner together with Peter.

Veglia

Peter deserves WoF just for this. Now, who are the 2 retired guys who worshiped Fed but he played his best against them? I agree with Roddick as the first pick. Second pick is difficult. Don't think Hewitt worships anybody. James Blake?

Leon

Veglia seems closer.

Peter D

Ah, forgot Blake, yes, I think that might be it. I thought Santoro because of this
Santoro: Roger Federer's tennis is perfect and Haas because I confused him with Jonas Bjorkman saying, quote, he was pleased to “have the best seat in the house” to watch the Swiss “play the nearest to perfection you can play tennis” (from the famous DAVID FOSTER WALLACE essay) I am not sure Roddick worshipped Federer and Hewitt even less so, but Blake sounds right.

Clifford

Congrats, Veglia!

alex

Yea, Leon, come think of it again kudos to Veglia.
I forgot about that Blake guy completely. Sorry.

alex

Yap!!

Stella

My 10 cents worth.

Malisse.
Gimmelstob.
Why --- went weak at the knees when RF mentioned

Alpha

My TP's logic (assuming worshippers) who would be Federer's two toughest opponents? Laver and Edberg.

Tennis Planet

WINNER: VEGLIA.

Goffin, Roddick and Blake.

On the flip side: Nadal, Canas.......?

Alpha

Sticking with your theme, TP, would these be the two guys that disrespect Federer most or the two that Federer worships most? Your hint was worshippers wasn't it?
Congrats Veglia. Share it with Peter.

Veglia

Thanks! I consider this the first doubles WoF title, Peter and Veglia.

Stella

what about Gimmelstob --- he idolised RF
