One of the big four cats (Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray) did something on-court that has never been done in the history of tennis, I think. Heck, in the history of sports. Heck, in the history of history.
What is it?
First correct answer = Wall Of Fame listing.
Winner / Correct answer: Monday, June 5, 2017.
Picked his butt more often than any athlete in the history of history.

HINT: Did it just once - so far.

Federer won a slam through three five setters.

This is not the right answer as it happens to some guy in every tournament but its still very cool.
I got reminded of this seeing Kerber's conqueror, Makarova, lose in R2.
In the 2016 AO, Nadal lost to Verdasco in R1, who lost to Sela, who lost to Kuznetsov, who lost to Monfils, who lost to Raonic, who lost to Murray, who lost to Djokovic. In short, Nadal was #128 in the draw. Got to be unique among the big 4.

Yes, I remember that, the doom draw ...

TP, clearly there are at least a few things that one of the big cats did on court on one occasion or another. Each of these answers may be right. However, if you're thinking about something else, something strictly "tennis" related, give us another hint. Please no crosswords ...
Posted by: Veglia | 05/31/2017 at 06:17 AM
Djokovic did this after winning FO:

"Each of these answers may be right."
Don't think most will pass the following two filters:
1. Did it once AND
2. "Heck, in the history of history."
If any do, then.......

I am sensing this is something awesome one of them did, not the stupid things we focused on ...

Picked Agassi to be their coach.....lol
Posted by: Ricke | 06/01/2017 at 05:51 PM
TP, this is a tought one. Does the "did something on-court" refer to a one time occurance? As opposed to an achievement ... To me, "did someting on-court" can be "made an incredible shot" but cannot be "recovered from 2 sets down".
Without some further detail this will be really hard to decipher.

This should answer your question:
"Heck, in the history of sports. Heck, in the history of history."
Meaning it transcends tennis, transcends sports, transcends.....

I still think the answer is Federer in that jacket at Wimbledon. Has there been any other player in the " history of tennis, heck, in the history of sports, heck, in the history of history" who has come to work at the mecca of his sport looking this absurd?
Or maybe its the man purse?
Posted by: Alpha | 06/03/2017 at 05:15 PM
"absurd" jacket: 1 for 1 [ 2009 ]
non-absurd jackets: 1 for 7 [ 2010 thru 2016 ]
Personally, I'm rather enamored with "absurd", purse or no purse... :->

This is the jacket. Or you can take the entire look.

When TP comes with his answer, and I know I'll be wrong for I always am -- only Velgia thinks like him -- I want him to answer the following question: "Has there been any other player in the history of tennis, heck, in the history of sports, heck, in the history of history who has come to work at the mecca of his sport looking this absurd?"

Federer played doubles tennis alongside Bill Gates.

For the record, I don't seem to be able to crack the code recently. TP has elevated the "thinking" to another level :)
Also, if that matters at all, I agree with you regarding this outfit. In fact, Uncle Fed lost a bit in my eyes that day.

Is the answer Winning a Master's 1000 tournament without having serve broken or losing a set?
Roger Federer did it at Cincinnati Western & Southern Open, 2012.

"Weird Jel" Jelena Jankovic did it, too.

Thanks TP! I have to say I was certain it was about either Roger or Rafa. Nole and Andy were there just for the ride. Just like in real life ...
Posted by: Veglia | 06/05/2017 at 03:49 PM
TP, you mean a situation where a player did not know they were still dribbling a ball not knowing they had won a match or scored a winning run in the "history of history"? Lots of examples -- here's one from tennis.

OK, I will grant that to you.
If you can produce two more examples - at least ONE of them from a fairly high profile 'human' - this WOF will be deemed a draw.
Posted by: Tennis Planet | 06/06/2017 at 03:57 PM
"in the history of freaking history" requires 3 counterfactuals? Plus, a "high profile human"? And that gets it to a draw. In short, I'll score one goal and claim I've won, now you score 3 and we will call this a draw. Hehe!
How about a simple -- "oops, happens more often than I thought" . Let Veglia keep his WOF -- I think he sees the WOF like Rafa sees the French.
How about this -- you produce one, yes just one, picture of a "high profile human" showing up for a match at the mecca of his sport looking more absurd than Federer at Wimbledon 2009?

Find 3 examples, one of which is of a "high profile human" and then it's a draw :-)

TP's site, TP's rules :) Re examples of ridiculous outfits, there are probably more than 3 just counting Mr.Agassi.
