Speed of play.

Cheating

Leon

You mean speed of non-play?

Veglia

Interesting theory. How are they cheating?

Jim

Both use the rule to the maximum extent, in the verge of breaking it, (for Nadal, waiting to the last second to serve; for Delpo, waiting to the last second to challenge) to frustrate RF, and distract his focus.

I agree, it is brazen, shameless :)

Veglia

In my view it is not the time that frustrates Federer, but the attitude. They both let Roger challenge obvious in or out balls, when they clearly knew, being close to it, how it landed. Federer is historically frustrated by Hawk Eye. He is not convinced it's 100% accurate.

Alpha

Make the challenge late and make it seem like an afterthought, just when Roger thinks he's won the point. DelPo did this on set point in Set 2. Also, had Roger screaming about it in USO 2009.

Veglia

For some reason my previous comment doesn't show ... My unified theory is that both Rafa and Delpo use the above tactics to delay the decision about the point, which frustrates Fed who thinks and acts fast and likes to put past points, matches and tournaments beyond him instantly. By challenging at the last moment (or beyond) and let Roger challenge "clean" balls they introduce lingering to decision making which frustrates Federer. It is similar to slow play but not the same.

Bento

They defy Federer's forehand. They don't try to avoid it like most other players.
