Obviously there’s the brazenly obvious and HUGE room in the elephant. Not that it never existed in the past, it’s just that it’s gotten SO much bigger and gigantic now that it’s impossible for the two to ‘manage’ ANYTHING without generously dipping it into that potion - thereby skewing the ‘natural’ movement - FOREVER.
Need proof?
Following video shows Nadal whispering something into Federer’s ear. Anytime anybody does that it’s assumed the person is wanting to keep the conversation secret. And the protocol demands that if the other person wants to reply it’s expected he will be just as discreet in responding.
More so if the subject of the conversation is sitting right next to the two clowns.
Federer violates the protocol by responding out loud exposing Nadal to Tsitsipas in the light he was avoiding in the first place.
Think Tsitsipas feels a little ‘betrayed’? It’s possible. How about Nadal?
Oh, what did you say?
“You are reading TOO much into it. It may just have been a coincidence”.
It’s possible - but when you insert the stratosphere the UNIQUE dynamic the relationship between the two has recently ventured into - ‘possible’ appears a weak characterization of the situation.
Nadal clearly wants to maintain a good relationship with Federer - more out of fear of his giant fan base and the backlash than out of sheer civility - while Federer, realizing the advantage, wants Nadal to squirm and ‘suffer’ as pay back for No. 19 - and beyond.
Given how much of a sore loser Federer is, it’s hard to imagine him rationalizing the situation sufficiently enough to still maintain a ‘friendly’ relationship with Nadal - specially if Nadal passes Federer on the Slam pole so mercilessly that Federer is thrown off the GOAT debate ALTOGETHER.
Recent declaration by Federer that ‘I have set great records and nobody can take that away from me and if others pass me I will be happy for them etc.’ was the first step in the long process of reconciliation a dethroned GOAT routinely undergoes.
However, when you own an irrefutable record of being the sorest loser in the history of sports, next step(s) in that process become progressively painful - and eventually impossible to navigate - opening the flood gates to brazen and endless hostility and bitterness. Heard of Agassi?
Not covinced?
Pitchker this scenario:
Nadal gets to say 23 Slams AND say 38 Masters.
That’s a lead of THREE Slams and TEN Masters. Sufficient to evoke ‘Agassi-like’ response - till eternity? It’s possible.
I did not see exposing the secret in this video.
