Lendl hired the crew that built the main court @ US Open and asked them to build an identical one @ his residence.

Result: Lendl reached 8 US Open finals - CONSECUTIVELY - from 1982 - 1989. Won three.

Well I actually now remember reading this!! All I was able to figure out that it was Lendl straight away but was thinking the tactic was while playing the match. He should have done the same with grass. Always felt sorry for him in terms of fan support.
